Producers of "Rick and Morty," Starburns Industries to Adapt Fantasy Comedy Podcast "Hello From The Magic Tavern" into Animated Series

The hit comedy podcast "Hello from the Magic Tavern" will be animated by Dino Stamatopoulos' Rick and Morty Starburns Industries and Sam Rockwell and Mark Berger's Play Hooky Productions, will be animated by. [Starburns Industries has produced "Rick and Morty," Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson's Academy Award-nominated film "Anomalisa," the stop-motion series "Morel Oral," and company co-founder Dan Harmon's role-playing show Harmon's role-playing show, "Harmon's Quest," has been adapted into a popular animated feature.

"Hello from the Magic Tavern" was launched in 2015 by creators Ernie Niekamp, Matt Young, and Adal Rifai. Here's the synopsis for the weekly show, which debuts its fifth season next week:

Hello! My name is Ernie. I fell through a portal in the back of a Burger King and ended up in a strange magical land called Foon. I've somehow managed to get a Wi-Fi signal, so I've started a weekly podcast where I interview creatures, wizards, and adventurers. I suggest you listen to it from the beginning. But hey, you can do it.

According to Deadline, which first announced the series, the animated show follows the wild adventures of Niekamp and his otherworldly friends, the blue Usidore (Young) and the talkative badger Chunt (Rifai), in the land of Hoon and beyond.

Rockwell and Berger told Deadline in a joint statement:

As soon as we heard the podcast, we fell in love with the world and the characters and became instant fans. We can't wait to continue building Hoon with Ernie, Matt, and Adal and add Starburns' gorgeous animation to the puzzle.
