Korean Sci-Fi Horror "The Exorcism Chronicles: Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning" Attracts International Buyers at European Film Festival

Korean distributor Finecut presents the CG animated horror feature The Exorcism Chronicles: The Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning to potential buyers at this year's European Film Market, the industry arm of the prestigious Berlin Film Festival. [The Exorcism Chronicles] is based on the best-selling novel "Toemalok" by Lee Woo-hyuk, which has sold more than 10 million copies. Production and animation is being handled by Locus Animation Studios, known for its animation work on the 2020 feature film "The Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs. Kim Dong-Chul, the artist behind "Red Shoes," will make his directorial debut with "The Exorcism Chronicles. The film is currently in post-production.

Titled Origin Story, the animated feature follows the adventures of four people who develop special powers based on religion, mythology, and the supernatural. The foursome includes an excommunicated priest, a woman with telekinetic powers, a man whose sister was taken by an evil spirit, and a child with arcane magical powers.

Finecut published a brief synopsis of the film:

Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning focuses on Father Park, a doctor turned priest. Father Park must protect an innocent but powerful child from a corrupt master in a temple where he secretly practices witchcraft. 9]

According to Finecut, "This adaptation builds a unique world where superheroes and occult elements intersect, creating a mysterious and suspenseful It emphasizes the atmospheric mise-en-scène"

Regarding Locus' aesthetic approach to the film, Finecat stated that the project is "produced in a cartoon render style that combines the artistic aesthetic of 2D animation with the visual depth of 3D."

Fincat also revealed that Locus is producing a CG-animated version of the popular comic "Yumi's Cell," animated by CJ ENM's Studio Dragon as a hybrid live-action and animation series.
