Watch the trailer for Busifan's Chinese epic "The Storm," opening this weekend in English-speaking countries

CMC Pictures will release the Chinese animated epic "The Storm" this weekend in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

"The Storm" is directed by indie filmmaker Jeegan Yang, aka "Bushifan," best known for his stunning animation and surprisingly violent feature "The Guardian."

Last week, distributor CMC Pictures posted an English-subtitled trailer for "Storm," which features lively and engaging 2D animation in the style of Chinese ink painting and impressive weather effects.

Here's the film's synopsis:

A torrential downpour leads you into the colorful world of a traditional Chinese ink painting; a century-old sunken ship comes to life; a mysterious troupe of theater troupes comes to life once again; and the world of the Chinese people is transformed by the storm. What kind of bizarre tale will unfold with countless masked people and an intricately changing world -
