European Animation Awards return after 6 years (full list of nominees)

The European Animation Award, also known as the “Emile Award,” is back after a six-year absence.

The award was held twice, in 2017 and 2018, but was abruptly suspended in 2019 due to financial difficulties.

The award has undergone a major revamp since the last edition and is no longer held in France. Rather, this new edition of the Emile Award ceremony will be held on Monday, September 23 at the Apollon Municipal Theatre in Ermoupolis, Syros, Greece, as part of the Animasyros Int'l Animation Festival.

Another major change is that the awards will now focus exclusively on features and shorts across 10 categories. The awards previously dedicated to animated television, commissioned productions, and student works have been eliminated.

The prize, previously organized by French animation professionals, is now organized by a committee that includes industry professionals from all over the EU. The committee was composed of Rashid Aghamaliyev (Azerbaijan/Czech Republic), Carolina Lopez Caballero (Spain), Olivier Catherin (France), Juan Carlos Concha (Spain), and Nancy Denney- Phelps (Belgium), Mariam Kandelaki (Georgia), Vassilis Karamitsanis (Greece), Holger Lang (Austria), Libor Nemeškal (Czech Republic), Kerdi Oengo (Estonia), [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
