Mindy Kaling to Produce Feature Film for Paramount Animation

Actress Mindy Kaling has signed on to produce a new untitled animated comedy for Paramount Animation. The film is currently in development.

The screenplay is by Arthur Chatulvedi and Justin Soul, newcomers with no screenwriting credits to their name. Chaturvedi has worked as a script intern at Nickelodeon, and there is no information online about Soul. [Kaling, who gained attention for his writing and acting work on The Office, will serve as a producer along with Jay Brown and Ty Ty Smith. Sean Wong, director of animation development at Paramount Animation, will direct the film, according to Deadline, which first reported the story. According to the site, the film will take audiences “into a world that is comedic and heartfelt, with a wish-fulfillment message.”
